Dali Bai Nationality Autonomous Prefecture is situated in Yunnan Province, the Southwest of China. Its remarkable natural beauty and unique cultural resources make it one of the most attractive scenic spot during the past few decades. The highland lakes, the snow capped mountains, the beautiful sunshine, the mild climate and the rich historical relics facilitate its popularity and prosperity. Visitors are granted the privilege of enjoying the marvelous landscape and the leisurely lifestyle. Four scenic areas are extremely outstanding among others, which are the Cangshan Mountains, Erhai Lake, Butterfly Spring and Dali Ancient City.
Besides, Dali is also known as "Backpackers' Paradise" in China. Sometimes visitors stay for a few months and experience the colourful life of local minority groups. Nowadays, as many foreign visitors rush into the city, Dali is home to numerous cafes and restaurants in western style, adding a sense of diversity and inclusiveness to the historical city.
Cangshan Mountain
Cangshan Mountain is located in the west of the Dali City with a distance of two kilometers. It is faced up with the Erhai Lake in the east and embraced by the Heishui River in the west. The beautiful mountain harbours numerous snow capped peaks, drifting white clouds, and roaring mountain streams. The amazing fact is that the Cangshan Mountain is covered with snow throughout the whole year despite its subtropical location and the average height of 4100 meters. Apart from the well-known streams, there are many beautiful lakes even where the altitude is over 3,800 meters.
Erhai Lake
The Erhai Lake covers an area of about 2,500,000 square meters. As a highland fresh water lake, Erhai Lake is quite attractive in numerous aspects. Its name literally means “sea in ear shape”, describing its large area and unique shape. A popular saying goes as “Silver Cangshan and Jade Erhai”, depicting the beautiful landscape with these two scenic spots. When the sun shines brightly, the crystal waters of Erhai Lake and the snow capped Cangshan Mount will be the most impressive scene in your China tours.
Three Pagodas
Three pagodas is located right at the foot of Cangshan Mountain and the bank of Erhai Lake. Accordingly, it has a history of more than 1,800 years, witnessing the spreading of Buddhism in the area. As its name suggests, Three Pagodas consist of three independent pagodas which form a symmetrical triangle. Besides, it symbolizes the superb art of architecture in ancient China. The triangle pogodas are rarely seen in the Chinese Buddhist buildings, thus distinguishing themselves. The Cangshan Mountain, the Erhai Lake and Three Pagodas form beautiful scenes, which is especially impressive in bright sunshine. Sometimes you feel like going back to the ancient time of peace and tranquility.
There is no doubt that Dali is one of the most attractive places in Yunnan Province. All visitors won’t regret for their choices.
