Wuyi Mountain lies in the border of Fujian and Jiangxi Province, Southeastern part of China. 92% of the whole Wuyi mountain is covered by forests. It harbours 2,466 higher plant species, 840 lower plant species, 475 vertebrate species, 100 species of mammals, 300 species of birds, and 4,557 insect species, which are realling amazing numbers. Cultural Heritage
Many outstanding figures have lived and lectured in Wuyi Mountains in ancient China. It used to be a retreat resort for poets, scholars and men of letter who prefer a life of seclusion. For example, the famous philosopher in Southern Song Dynasty, Zhu Xi, had given lectures for 40 years in Wuyi Mountain, making it an academic center in southeast China. Besides, Wuyi Mountain is also an important center of Taoism and Buddhism. Many religious relics can be found there even today.
Several famous kinds of tea are produced in Wuyi Mountain, including Da Hong Pao(literally means big red robe) and Wuyi Rock Tea. Wuyi Rock Tea is a type of Oolong tea, enjoying a long history. It is regarded as one of the best tea in China.
